Leadership

The Chamberlain legacy, spanning the influential careers of Joseph Chamberlain and his son Neville Chamberlain, offers a rich source of inspiration for our leadership programme.

Heron

The Heron makes critical and timely decisions. The legacy of Joseph and Neville Chamberlain provides strong inspiration for our leadership programme. Joseph’s bold ideas and drive for change show the power of vision and action, while Neville’s focus on diplomacy highlights the importance of careful decision-making. By exploring both their achievements and challenges, participants will reflect on different leadership styles and what can be learned from them.

The programme encourages young people to think about how history can inform leadership today, helping them develop confidence, judgement, and the ability to adapt in a changing world.

Owl

Our leadership training programme embraces the wisdom of the owl – an enduring symbol of knowledge, insight, and perceptiveness. Just as the owl surveys its environment with keen awareness and gathers information before making its move, strong leaders must prioritize deep understanding and thorough knowledge of their subject areas.

This training emphasises the importance of continuous learning, active listening, research and strategic information gathering. By cultivating an owl-like approach to leadership, participants learn to see beyond the surface, ask the right questions, and make informed decisions grounded in expertise and clarity.

Squirrel

In our work, we look to the squirrel as a powerful symbol of resourcefulness and strategic preparation. Just as the squirrel diligently gathers and stores food to sustain itself through changing seasons, effective leaders must proactively build a network of resources, allies, and contacts to support their goals.

This training highlights the importance of cultivating relationships, identifying key opportunities, and assembling the tools and support systems needed for long-term success. By adopting the squirrel’s mindset, participants learn to prepare, act with foresight, and ensure they are never caught unprepared when challenges arise.

Youth Board

The CHT Youth Board programme empowers young people aged 16-25 to develop leadership skills, engage in meaningful decision-making, and shape the future of Highbury through hands-on learning and creative collaboration. Across six sessions, participants will explore governance, vision-setting, sustainability, storytelling, and public impact, ensuring their voices help guide CHT’s work and legacy.
