Help Improve the Park

When we volunteered, we did many things that is part of a project that massively revamps the park. On Monday we helped other volunteers and the head gardener to trim the bushes near the Italian garden.

On Tuesday we took photographs for a blog that will inform people about a park. This gave us free reign to explore the park with my friends.

On Wednesday, we went litter picking and we found over 100 pieces of litter. We found it very fun and made it competitive. We also were able to cut the epicormic growth off of some trees on lime avenue. Once we were finished, we all felt very accomplished.

On Thursday, we cleared an area in the community orchard and placed log seats for people to sit on and children to climb on, we also led a session to demonstrate how to clean the old dairy house floor to pupils from Uffculme School.

“On my work experience, I enjoyed scrubbing the dairy floor, because I felt connected to the history of the park. When we looked at what we had done, I felt a monumental sense of achievement, that people would see our work and be impressed by our effort.” Joe

On Friday, which was the last day of our experience, as volunteers, we were rewarded for our hard work. Overall, the experience was eye-opening as we saw a completely different aspect of the park.
