As Kings Heath Station welcomes passengers once again, join us for a family-friendly celebration of travel, movement and arrival inspired by the many ways people have reached Highbury Hall over the last 150 years.
Visitors are invited to make the short journey from Kings Heath Railway Station to Highbury Hall by taking a horse-drawn carriage ride, walking, cycling, using mobility aids, or other forms of transport enjoying a programme of heritage activities along the way. Once at Highbury Hall you will discover historic bicycles, estate equipment, a model railway display from Bournville Model Railway Club, and stories from the Chamberlain family. You can explore the Hall, take part in guided walks and family activities, have a free Cog Nation basic bike check, meet organisations promoting active travel, and learn how people, plants, ideas, and objects have travelled to Highbury from around the world.
A special highlight will be live music performances at approximately 3.40pm, 4.20pm and 5.30pm, from Birmingham Contemporary Music Group as part of their ‘Cycle the Score’ bicycle-powered concert tour.
The day will be split into three sessions: 11am – 1pm, 1pm – 3pm, and 3pm – 5pm. The last admission to Highbury Hall will be at 5pm. Reserve your place via the booking link above.
Please note that bookings for carriage rides, guided cycle rides and tours need to be made separately. Booking for carriage rides is now open, book your place now via Eventbrite. There will be a limited number of places for tours and other activities available on the day, but some timeslots may be fully booked, so advance booking is recommended.
Food and drink will be available to purchase at Highbury.
Begin the day at Kings Heath Station, B14 7SN or Highbury Hall, B13 8QG. Travel by public transport, cycling and active travel are encouraged as part of the event theme. Please note that the main entrance gates to Highbury Hall on Yew Tree Road are currently cordoned off due to damaged gate piers. The closest entrance to the Hall is via the entrance at the side of the Lodge, further along Yew Tree Lane near where it joins Moor Green Lane. Admission to the hall and hall tours are free. Charges apply for carriage tours.
Visitors are encouraged to wear suitable footwear for walking around the park and gardens. We aim for this event to be as accessible as possible but in wet weather some of our paths are less accessible.
